Network to improve powder die compaction using computer simulation and other advanced techniques - dienet

Objectif

Of metal forming technologies, powder processing arguably offers the greatest savings in terms of effect on the environment. A major drawback of the process is however the long delivery times of new tooling. The objective of this network is to develop computer simulation packages which accelerate and improve design of complex tooling- 14 RTO and 12 manufacturers involved in European work in this area are making this submission, which covers complex ferrous components, hard metals, diamond tools, magnets and structural ceramics. The work will be carried out by networking a range of European projects, centres of European expertise and key European manufacturers. Successful network deliverables will be software packages and best practice guidelines which can be used by manufacturers to improve design and production methods.
