Robl (synchrotron radiation beamline for radiochemistry and material resaerch)

Ziel

Description:
The Rossendorf Beamline (ROBL) is a synchrotron radiation beamline located at the bending magnet port BM20 of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in Grenoble, France. The two alternatively operating experimental end-stations are dedicated to radiochemistry (RCH) and materials research (MRH). The RCH allows performing X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) experiments on solid and liquid samples containing radionuclides, in particular actinides, with a maximum activity of 185 MBq. Depending on their concentration, the XAS measurements can be done in transmission or fluorescence modes. Several sample holders and a helium cryostat for low-temperature measurements are available. Certain chemical sample manipulations are possible inside the glove box before or during the XAS measurements. In Europe, ROBL is the only end-station dedicated to XAS experiments (EXAFS/XANES) on radioactive samples. In MRH, a high-duty six-circle goniometer allows performing X-ray diffraction studies on thin films, powders or liquids as well as reflectometry experiments. Special sample chambers (in situ magnetron sputtering, high temperature) with a weight of up to 15 kg can be mounted at the goniometer.

Application:
Beam time applications must be submitted electronically (see http://fz-rossendorf.de/LSF-ROBL/ari_robl_application.html). The deadline for the current call is April 30, 2002
