Objective FLS miljoe and EPR are planning to develop design, build own and demonstrate the operation of an innovative 38 MWe 'Mixed Bio-Fuel' power plant in the UK. The plant's major subsystems consist of the biomass handling, firing system, supercritical boiler, flue gas cleaning system and turbine island. The objective of the eligible part of the project is to demonstrate 3 innovative features. The first innovation is the supply and handling systems for Miscanthus, the short rotational crop, which will be used as a biofuel for the first time in UK. The second innovation is an upgraded biomass firing system to burn the combination of Miscanthus, poultry litter, sludge and natural gas. The third feature is the use of an external super heater to achieve the electrical efficiency of 35%.
