High-Modulation, High-Efficiency and Low Emission Boilers for Household Application Based on Pre-Mixed Catalytic Burner

Objective

The major objectives of the project are:
a) at least a 20% reduction of non-renewable usage and CO2 emissions for apartment heating and hot-water production by developing a high-modulation boiler (>10:1 turndown ratio, accomplished through an innovative electroically controlled bruner-feed system) based on pre-mixed catalytic burner;
b) a boler market price below 1500 Euro to have good exploitation chances;
c) each boiler component (burner included) should be designed to withstand 35,000 hrs under real-life operating conditions;
d) NOx emissions <10 mb/kWh and negligible HC and CO emissions over the entire modulation range, due to the catalytic burner and the gas-sensor-driven control system. The catalysts must be better than commercial ones in terms of high-temperature and sulftur resisitance thereby enabling the above mentioned lifetime.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
