Objective
To demonstrate, monitor and optimise fixed bed gasification systems. The demonstration plant should establish the warranty conditions for a commercial product in the capacity range of 500 to 2500 KWe. Specific objective are (i) TO scale-up the fixed bed gasifier and the catalytic tar cracker from 30KW to 500 KW electric output (16x), (ii) To combine the different components developed within different R&D projects into an integratated systems, (iii) To produce combined heat and power efficiently (electric efficiency 36%) with minimal environmental impact (no harmful ash, tar and condenswater production), (iv) To use as fuel a difficult biomass residue; a woody biomas waste stream from the composting process which has a low density and moreover not uniform. Other fedback (Miscanthus, demolition wood, chips) has been tested successfully at pilot scale, (v) To establish warranty conditions for commercial fixed bed gasification systems.
