Common agricultural policy strategy for regions, agriculture and trade

Objective

The project CAP-STRAT aims at Supporting DG-AGRI by projecting the development of the agricultural sector and analysing the impact of current and alternative policy programs through the application of the rationalised modelling system CAPRI. In order to apply the system, its database will be updated, the empirical base of the model specification enhanced, and extensions introduced with respect to envisaged policy scenarios. A reference run will be prepared representing the most probable development of Em's agriculture until 2010. Policy scenarios will be defined, simulated and analysed in co-operation with DG-AGRI. The project mainly relates to point 5.4.2 of the work program of the fifth framework, which states specifically the actions "forecasting the development of agriculture, ... identifying the necessary adjustments in the CAP and evaluating the potential impact of policy decisions, the improvement of existing models".
