Objective
HEACE aims to achieve a better understanding of the health and comfort impact of the workplace inside aircraft on both crew and passengers. This understanding will be translated into improvements, to be promoted by defining appropriate schemes, measures, guidelines and tools for aircraft design. Physical environmental parameters (noise, vibration, air flow, temperature, lighting etc.) are measured in-flight and in specially prepared mock-ups and correlated with psychological, physiological and sociological and performance data from test subjects. The multidimensional state of comfort perception with respect to health, well-being and consequently performance of cabin crew and flight crew is evaluated and a human response model derived, based on both statistical analysis and artificial neural network structures.
