Objective
Ageing Well: A European Study of Adult Well-Being (ESAW) would produce a European Socio-Cultural Model for Ageing Well, which estimates the direct causal contribution of five key components (physical health and functional status, mental efficacy, life activity, material security and social support) with personal characteristics and culture to the outcome variable ageing well. The project would be conducted in six countries: Austria, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The research would yield an integrated dataset from six national samples of 2000-2400 adults aged between 50and 90. Partners from the multidisciplinary consortium would produce reports on each research theme and the European Socio-Cultural Model for Ageing Well. The findings will inform domestic and international policy development, and guide the delivery of professional care and services to older people across Europe.
