Objective Ped-Care has introduced a work method that revitalises current pedagogical techniques, adapting them to the technological platforms used and correcting the deficiencies of said techniques due to the different time schedules and locations of teachers and students. Ped-Care has improved the communication processes between students and teachers and the management of the relationship with the learners (pedagogical CRM, Learner/Student Relationship Management) by introducing optimised processes. These processes have included e-mail management and other communication tools by means of intelligent managers able to classify, forward or automatically answer messages that are addressed daily to teachers.Methodology and tools contribute also to improve the process of monitoring students' activities during the course and evaluating them in the learning process being accessible through a wide range of mobile devices offering intuitive interfaces.LRM methodology is based on the assumption that pedagogy, technology and business are now inseparable in the new learning models. It proposes transference of CRM strategies and technologies to the education environment. The main aim is to increase the learner's real value for the organisation, that is, his capacity of learning, discarding any socio-economic consideration. LRM wants learners to learn more and better, reaching learner satisfaction through a better understanding of their needs. This business scenario has the risk of provoking the segregation of those students less interesting (from an economic point of view) for the organisations. For this reason, it is necessary to include pedagogical considerations in the traditional CRM approach (Learner Care).DESCRIPTION OF WORKSemantic analysis techniques have been developed in order to filter E-mail and SMS messages to be able to automatically answer the students' questions. Finally, it offers advanced group communication services offering teachers the possibility of communicating with learners by SMS or eMail (with the whole group, with specific segments or individually) as will as the possibility of analysing the learners' responses to these communications (marketing campaigns). News, events and new learning proposals notifications can be made using it.The Pedagogical Content Manager (PCM) offers alternative learning resources to the end users (or to teachers) from external location to the LMS. PCM allows to the users make personalised searches according to his profile and his segment features. The Pedagogical Pursuit and Evaluation Manager (PPEM) offers an interface to teachers to monitor the learner's evolution in the learning process. All the information is stored and shown to the teachers. They are able to consult the segments were a student is located and they can change the assignation provided automatically if they disagree. All these tools have also advanced characteristics as:Support for mobile devices (PDAs, mobile phones -SMS, WAP- etc.) offering teachers the possibility of maintaining more frequent communications with the students.Multilingual support for all the tools.Transparent integration in the LMS installed in education centres through the use of eLearning metadata standards (DC/LOM/LIP) and metadata exchange protocols (OAI).Ped-Care project has introduced a work method that revitalises current pedagogical techniques, adapting them to the technological platforms used and correcting the deficiencies of said techniques due to the different time schedules and locations of teachers and students. This business scenario has the risk of provoking the segregation of those students less interesting (from an economic point of view) for the organisations. For this reason, it is necessary to include pedagogical considerations in the traditional CRM approach (Learner Care). In order to reach the correct application of this methodology different intelligent agents have been produced:The Intelligent Pedagogical Segmentation Manager (IPSM) classifies the students in certain segments by pedagogical criteria. Different actions are oriented according to the segment that one student belongs to. For instance, a more personalised and immediate attention is necessary for certain segments while others, more proactive, will be able to act as session animators or be selected as work group-coordinator.The Intelligent Pedagogical Action Manager (IPAM) makes possible to carry out actions oriented to personalise the learning process of each student. This tool facilitates the customisation of the offer with regard to courses and documentation that can be provided while marketing actions. The Intelligent eMessage Manager (IeMM) classifies messages received by teachers (normally by email) taking into account the student that sends the message (segment which belongs to, actions realised, proactivity, etc.). The relationship between students and teachers has been improved with this tool in the way that automatic responses with proper information, documentation or references to information sources and forward to other departments reduces the teachers overload and the students receive a more personalised treatment. The IeMM tool is able to learn new answers for new questions applying Artificial Intelligence techniques.Semantic analysis techniques have been developed in order to filter E-mail and SMS messages to be able to automatically answer the students' questions. Finally, it offers advanced group communication services offering teachers the possibility of communicating with learners by SMS or eMail (with the whole group, with specific segments or indidividually) as will as the possibility of analysing the learners' responses to these communications (marketting campaigns).
