Solar Air Conditioning in Europe

Objective

Air conditioning of commercial and residential buildings is a major and fast-growing energy consuming sector, especially in Mediterranean countries. Various European research and demonstration activities have advanced the field of solar energy for air conditioning of buildings. The project intends to review the state-of-the-art and to provide a clear picture of the potential, the future needs and the overall perspectives of his technology.

The main objectives of this project are:
(1) to make a horizontal study on the state-of-art of environmentally friendly technologies using solar heat as driving mechanism for air conditioning of buildings in Europe;
(2) to identify the strong and weak points of the reviewed technologies in relation to energy performance, environmental impact and financial viability and;
(3) to identify future needs and necessary actions in order to better exploit their potential.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
