Intracorporeal VideoProbe

Objective

IVP work focuses on development and evaluation of a miniaturised videoprobe system including a micro-electronic image sensor, wireless data transfer, post- processing and display as well as micro-mechanical components and localisation capabilities. The system will be used in medical diagnosis and therapy. Medical applications are post-operative intracorporeal control after abdominal surgery (general surgery, gynaecology or urology) and diagnosis in gastroenterology (colonoscopy, gastroscopy).

The use of similar instruments for non-medical applications such as technical endoscopy or production and quality control is expected. Two demonstrators will be developed and evaluated in close contact to users in abdominal surgery, gynaecology, urology and gastroenterology. Modularity of system allows for exploitation of components in other products.
