Management of high risk opiate addicts in europe - risk opiate addicts study - europe (ROSE_EU)

Objectif

Background of this study is that in spite of the big range of therapeutic options for opiate addicts, there are major deficiencies in effective recruitment for treatment and treatment effectiveness. An important group of opiate addicts is not reached by therapeutic services and many of them are exposed to comparatively high risks. Furthermore many addicts in treatment drop out prematurely. Additionally many addicts in maintenance treatment continue to use illicit drugs. Treatment strategies for this group of patients are not uniform or systematically evaluated within Europe. The studies aim is to analyse these problems and to evaluate treatment programmes to meet the needs of high-risk addicts with the goal of developing recommendations as well as guidelines for standards in management of these high-risk addicts. For this, an extensive empirical stocktaking will be carried out in 5 European cities.
