Original synthons for life sciences

Ziel

Bioconversions using microorganisms or isolated enzymes are often used as chiral catalysts in preparative organic chemistry. They represent an alternative to the asymmetric catalysis. The use of whole cells is simpler for industrial purposes, however the enzyme production by a native microorganism is often low. The aim of the proposed project is to obtain recombinant enzymes for bio catalysis based applications. The first step will consist in isolating and cloning the genes that encode the enzymes to be used as biocatalysts. In the second step, the genes will be introduced and over-expressed in different hosts including bacteria, yeasts and fungi. Recombinant enzymes will be compared to the native ones in terms of their activities and other biochemical properties.
