Obiettivo During the last time the structure of the scalar mesons has been the subject of extensive experimental and theoretical studies. Nevertheless, the structure of the lightest scalar mesons is not completely understood yet. They can be either qqbar or qqqbarqbar states, molecules or even vacuum scalars, which are eye-witnesses of confinement. The main aim of the research program is the study of the charged a_0 mesons nature by the investigation of the reaction pp -> d a_0^+. It is proposed to measure the K^+Kbar^0 decay channel of a_0^+ meson by simultaneously detecting deuteron and K^+ meson. Comparing of the experimental invariant mass distribution of the K^+Kbar^0 system with the theoretical model predictions will allow to obtain valuable information on the structure of the charged a_0 meson. This research program will be carried out at the new spectrometer ANKE located in the ring of the cooler synchrotron COSY (KFA, Juelich). To achieve the high luminosity and proton background suppression of three orders of magnitude at trigger level the frozen pellet target and the new type of Cherenkov counters will be used.As the first experiment it is planned to measure the inclusive deuteron spectra in reaction pp->dX using a target with relatively low luminosity. This measurement will give the valuable information about the background of deuterons from channels not related to a_0^+ meson production.Next step will be the simultaneously measurement of deuteron and K^+ meson spectra in the reaction pp -> d a_0^+ -> d K^+ Kbar^0 and reconstruction of the K^+Kbar^0 system invariant mass. Results of the invariant mass analysis should throw light on the structure of the charged a_0 meson.
