Production of high density, high hardness B4C and Boron contained materials

Objective

High density, high hardness B4C, boron composites and boron compounds samples and powders, which are of great interest as bulk materials and as coatings on various substrates, will be prepared by different methods of synthesis. The corresponding teams which contribute in equivalent way at this INTAS project will be devoted mainly to the fabrication of high strength boron compounds, and to the study of their physico-mechanical properties. Also a systematic analysis of phase data will provide valuable information concerning the stabilities of some binary RE borides and multinary RE-transition metal carbon borides, in connection with their strange behaviour as regards their status of state, semi conductive or metallic. The whole project is with the focus to the production and commercial application of high quality B4C and other boron compounds.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
