Computer simulation of active creep forming

Ziel

The main objective of the project is the development of highly efficient methods and simulation software for aircraft structural components produced by active creep forming. The research activity includes

1. Development of a new method of computational mathematics basing on high order compact differencing and radial basis functions (CD-RBF) for aircraft structural components such as stringers and panels;
2. Investigation of aluminium alloy 2024, 7150 and 6013 deformations for typical conditions of the active creep forming process and will examine the applicability and accuracy of different material laws, for conventional and active processing;
3. Investigation of the allowable limits of the active creep forming parameters for the mentioned above aluminium alloys;
4. Development of database for aluminium alloys 2024, 7150, and 6013 that is necessary for aircraft structure component active creep forming simulation.
The anticipated results of the project include a new simulation software technique for optimisation of the active creep forming process parameters, and will include a comprehensive study on the constitutive laws, which may be used to describe the behaviour of aluminium alloys during this process.

This project will deliver significant scientific and technological advances in the field of aircraft structural analyses and manufacturing technology.
