Dusty plasma structures in laboratory and space plasmas

Ziel

A wide variety of phenomena accompanying excitation of lower-hybrid turbulence in a number of laboratory, astrophysical and space environments will be the subject of investigations within the proposed Project. Analytical and simulation studies of non-linear dynamics, wave-collapse processes, formation of localized structures and energy exchange between electron and ion plasma components via lower-hybrid waves due to resonant interaction with them will be investigated. A linear analysis of the modified two-stream instability excited by energetic ions with a ring and a beam distribution will provide the information about conditions for the most efficient excitation of LH turbulence in space and laboratory plasmas. Supporting laboratory experiments will be performed using different ways if exciting lower-hybrid waves; sophisticated diagnostic techniques must provide the opportunity to search and investigate experimentally the different structures of strong LH turbulence and particle acceleration resulting from it.
