The study of light quark-antiquark and exotic mesons in hadronic and Primakoff reactions of pions on nuclei

Objective

The proposed project is aimed at the search for the exotic Quantum Chromodinamics states - hybrids, glueballs, and multiquark states, and the better understanding of the normal (quark - antiquark) light mesons properties. It combines experimental research and theoretical and phenomenological studies.

Among the research activities are:

-data taking with modernized VES setup;

-the development and the use of partial wave analysis for various final state systems;

-the application of a new multichannel unitarized analysis, accounting for threshold and rescattering effects, to the observed objects;

-calculations of the vector radial and orbital quark-antiquark excitations and hybrid decays and their mixing, and the confrontation of theoretical predictions with the experimental data;

-theoretical and experimental study of chiral models via Primakoff reactions and some specific decays of mesons.

The obtained results will be reported on international conferencies and published in major physical journals.
