Quantum Properties of Distributed Systems

Ziel

QUPRODIS is a Thematic Network/Working Group on the quantum information processing and communication capabilities of distributed quantum systems. The Working Group will classify and quantify the quantum resources, like multi-party correlation and entanglement, how they propagate in distributed quantum systems, and how they are affected by local operations, classical communication and physical interactions. We shall consider a variety of architectures, ranging from quantum networks, where the processing units can be individually addressed, to quantum lattices, where this is not necessarily the case. We shall also explore novel computing methods, like the measurement- and noise based computing, and non-standard architectures, like the quantum cellular automata model and the quantum neural nets.

OBJECTIVES
The QUPRODIS Working Group will support, enhance, and complement the research on quantum information processing and communication in distributed quantum systems by promoting and facilitating appropriate links between the QUPRODIS partners, between the QUPROIDS partner and other projects of the QIPC cluster, and the QUPRODIS partner and researcher/research-groups working in other fields. The QUPRODIS will assist in the coordination of the QIPC cluster and it will provide input to the QIPC Roadmap.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The project comprises theoretical investigations on the quantum information processing in distributed quantum systems. Research will be conducted by three interrelated Focus Groups FG1 'Characterization', FG2 'Manipulation', and FG3 'Implementation'. Each Focus Group is assigned a number of research packages which describe the Focus Group specific tasks in some detail. Focus Group FG1 deals with the mathematical characterization of entanglement and correlation in distributed quantum systems.
Focus Group FG2 deals with the methods to manipulate entanglement and correlation in distributed quantum systems. Focus Group FG3 deals with novel architectures and algorithms, which exploit entanglement and correlation in distributed quantum systems.
