Evaluation of airtight furnace technology (reduction of airingress in EAF)

Objectif

The project will study specific lancing devices allowing really tight Electric Arc Furnace operation through its door suppression. It will determine the resultant benefits in energetic consumption by measuring the losses reduction through exhaust system an exhaust gas. The concept is based on sealing the slag door and reducing all other air entries, while testing alternate solutions for carbon and oxygen input. Different operating conditions will be tested and selected in an instrumented pilot-EAF thereby reducing the need for extensive full-scale experimentation.
