Objective The parameters of thin slab of strip casting and direct rolling will be simulated and their effect on the transformation behaviour will be studied on selected steel grades. This will involve the re-heating of samples to high temperatures to simulate the as cast state. The second major point of interest will be the investigation of the transformation under high deformation and cooling rates. A novel deformation dilatometer will be developed with the possibility to simulate the multi-step direct rolling process with a deformation rate up to 100s-1 and to vary the cooling rate up to 1000Ks-1.
