Objective An easy way to coat a strip with an alloy of the zinc family is the hot-dip process, which consists in dipping a strip into a liquid metal bath. Such current configurations however impair flexibility, maintenance quality and productivity. A new coating process has been developed, characterised by floating of the strip, a circulation of liquid metal, and the absence of moving immersed equipment in contact with the strip. This process has been tested and validated in a pilot line. Results have confirmed that such technique could be used with success as a coating process. The aim of the project is to collect the information required for an industrial application of the process. In a second phase, not included in this project, industrial equipment will be installed and tested.
