Objective This project is aimed at the development and implementation of systems for on- line transverse temperature control for the microstructural homogeneity of hot strip. Sophisticated mathematical models will be developed, using artificial intelligence neural network methods, to establish the relationships between hot rolling parameters and the final properties of the material, especially silicon and high strength steels, and an on-line control system will be developed on the basis of this model. Efforts will also be made to obtain strip with controlled graded properties across its width.
