Obiettivo Steel production via the EAF is becoming more and more relevant. During the last years, EAF technology has also been aimed at increasing the productivity by decreasing the specific electric energy consumption. An important route to reach this aim is scrap preheating. Presently, a new way of continuously charging the scrap is emerging, tightly bound to the post-combustion of process gas. This project involves the post-combustion optimisation of a gas flowing in a lateral continuous system of charging scraps. This objective will be attained through the management of post-combustion in the preheating tunnel and a rational choice of scrap type charging sequence; the environmental impact of this technology will be investigated.
