Facilitating regional learning processes in a competitive environment: regional socio-economic and cultural development in three accession countries and three member states.

Objective

This thematic network proposal wants to stimulate regional learning processes using the "structural indicators" benchmarking methodology. The network intents to explore the parameters of a regional learning dynamic that is encompassing in two senses :
(1) in promoting "support-led" (A. Seen) regional growth and
(2) in promoting the European integration of accession countries. Two levels of networking will be addressed : the scientific community and the regional social actors. An interactive website "European Learning Region Platform" will be created to assure the sustainability of the networking capacities build up during the three years of the project.
