Permanent research in spatial development in the context of eu enlargement and information society advancement

Objective

European integration and EU enlargement affect the processes of spatial development in the accession countries as well as in the member states. Harmonization of the environmental, social, cultural and economic aspects of development of European continent and its optimisation is closely linked to optimalisation of spatial development of existing settlement structures. These new conditions require new formal and informal instruments with to guide spatial development and research that has to ensure a continual transfer of know-how and international cooperation and integration of research capacities. The SPECTRA-PERSEUS centre acts as a platform for Permanent Research on Spatial aspects of EU enlargement to meet Sustainable spatial development.
