Objective Data on the actual structural characteristics of assemblies and complete frames are inadequate to serve as a basis for calibration work and as a result it is extremely difficult to evaluate the real safety level of complete structures. This is a particularly crucial problem for types of structures in which assemblies between structural elements have a limited capacity to transmit bending moment and behave in a semirigid fashion. This method of construction is nevertheless very widely used in Europe for multistorey steel frameworks.
