Cel The trend towards the constant extension of anti-corrosion guarantees has in recent years prompted the motor-manufacturing industry to make considerable efforts to improve through the use of thin sheet precoated on both sides, the resistance of vehicle bodies to both surface rust and completely penetrating corrosion. The aim of the research is therefore to develop, produce and characterize new types of precoated sheet obtained through the application of a thin film containing organic phosphates to two-sided electrogalvanized sheet or the application of an organic film to two-sided Zincrox. Such products would not require phosphatising.Since, however, the bodywork would nevertheless have to be phosphatized where assembled from different materials, such coatings should pass through the phosphatizing treatment unimpaired. It would therefore not be necessary to reformulate the baths. Sacrificial protection of the steel would be ensured by the presence of the zinc on both the inner side, to protect against penetrating corrosion, and on the outer side, to protect against surface rust. The organic or phosphate/organic film should enhance the steel's suitability for pressing and shearing by virtue of its lubricating properties, retain a high degree of adhesiveness and chemical inertness even after deformation and also display considerable impact strength.
