Isotopic (13c) fractionation during decomposition of lignin in the soil environment

Objectif

Quantify the isotopic fractionation during lignin decomposition in the soil environment , because the use of 13^C in soil organic matter studies demands the knowledge of the 13^C enrichment of the end products of long term plant residue decomposition and lignin is the plant component slowest to decompose and thus affecting soil 13^C signatures directly due to its contribution to soil samples
