Ziel

A strong association between the presence of the variant esp. gene in vancomycin- resistant Enterococcus francium and in-hospital spread of these bacteria is recently described. We want to investigate the epidemiology and mechanisms of the esp. gene and its potential role in the pathogenesis of enterococcal diseases.
