Possibilities for and problems with ICP-MS in the iron and steel industry

Objective

The aim of this research is to increase the performance and sensitivity of the analysis of trace elements in solution using an inductive plasma source (ICP) linked to a mass spectrometer (MS). The study is mainly directed at solving the problems associated with such an analytical system so that it can be used in the iron and steel industry.
This is a joint research involving the University of Duisburg, CENIM, Hoesch Stahl AG and Laborlux with the latter undertaking the technical co-ordination.
