Obiettivo The Research Institute for Applied Neurosciences (FAN) is going to establish in vitro and in vivo models of neuroregeneration. Therefore, we are seeking two young scientists with proven records of expertise in cell and/or developmental biology, and preferably, in neuronal stem cell technology. Both candidates should have at least 4 years of postgraduate research experience. A knowledge of pathophysiological mechanisms leading to neurodegeneration following brain ischemia (e.g. stroke and trauma) is desired but not necessary. In particular we are interested in the following competence: identification of stem cells in embryonic and juvenile/adult (brain) tissue, detection and manipulation of cellular proliferation, preparation and culture of stem cells, implantation of stem cells into brain tissues, detection of functional integration. Both candidates will be involved in distinct projects focused on in vitro and in vivo ischemia models, respectively. The Neuropharmacological Unit of FAN, a non-profit research institution located in Magdeburg, has a proven reputation in the fields of synaptic plasticity and pre-clinical ischemia/stroke research. Our laboratories are located at the Center of Innovative Neurosciences and Neurotechnology opened 1998. We offer modern and well equipped lab space, creative collaborators and attractive fellowships at one of Germany TMs finest places for doing Neuroscience. Modern technologies are available at the FAN and at the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology (IfN, our nearby located academic partner. Both positions are limited for two years. Since the fellowships are financed by the European Community, only inhabitants of European and associated countries can apply. FAN is an Equal Opportunities Employer. Please, send your application to Prof. K.G. Reymann, FAN gGmbH, Leipziger Str. 44, D-39120 Magdeburg, Germany.
