Science and technology of copper-indium chalcogenides and conductive polymers based PV solar cells

Objetivo

First and foremost, the current project proposal aims at integrating three areas of RTD: it covers all fundamental studies of different chalcogenide materials, technology development of materials and devices for PV and specific activities directed to industrial application. Number of perspective inorganic and organic semiconductor materials (copper-indium chalcogenides (CICh) and conductive polymers (CP)) will be synthesised, their properties will be characterised, their suitability for PV solar cells applications will be investigated and solar cells will be built up on the basis of developed materials. The research pursues to a deeper insight into the relationship between microscopic and macroscopic structure of materials on their photophysical properties, new materials optimized with respect to the photophysical properties and to developed high performance, cheap PV solar cells with exchanged stability.
More precisely research and development activities will be directed to
1. Fundamental studies related to formation of different chalcopyrite materials and CP with predicted electrical and optical properties.
2. Influence of impurities on the electrical and optical properties, CICh and CP.
3. Regularities of growth of thin films of different chalcopyrite materials and CP and development of CICh and CP thin films for solar cells.
4. Development of CICh nanoparticles by different methods and PV solar cells on their basis using CP.
Secondly our project aims at strengthening the partner laboratories as the leading centres of different countries in PV research. Additionally to above-given the project opens new possibilities for the NIS researchers to strength contacts with the leading research centres of Europe and for integration of NIS science into ERA.
The project gives the good possibility for the publication of numerous articles and most likely will be as initial point for future innovative projects.
