Objectif The aim of the project is to exploit the following specific characteristics of a d.c. three-electrode arc furnace : - enlarged diameter of the eletrode circle, - single central hot spot, to allow the continuous feeding and melting of fresh scrap in the centre of the furnace. The expected benefits are: - increased productivity from 100 up to 150 t/h, - energy saving of about 40 Kwh/t, - reduction of electrodes consumption of 0,3 kg/t. The furnace could be furthermore equipped with preheating facilities.
