The former will receive research training in the School for a period of 6 months (although periods from three to twelve months could be consider). The latter students will be in the school for a three-year period, with the aim of complete their PhD degree at Manchester. Research training will be provided in the broad areas of accounting and finance, including management accounting, financial accounting, auditing, corporate governance, business policy, financial markets, and market-based research. Although accounting and finance are sometimes regarded as two different subject areas, within the Manchester School of Accounting and Finance they are treated as an integrated area of study. The school organises its activities in three research groups1) Management Accounting and Information Systems;2) Corporate Reporting, Auditing and Business;3) Finance. The research training will include courses, seminars, workshops, research assistance and other complementary skills such as strategies for publication and presentation skills. The School is one of the UK s and Europe s leading research schools in accounting and finance and it is proud to have a very rigorous and high quality PhD programme. The School has been a Marie Curie Training Site for the last few years and the experience was very successful. Future Marie Curie fellows will benefit from working with leading researchers in their field and from being part of a large PhD group. This experience will help to consolidate their career prospects, while also promoting European research in the field of accounting and finance.
