Objectif Strip samples of 304 and 430 stainless steels will be coated with thin films using PVD techniques, including arc discharge, magnetron sputtering, resistive evaporation, arc bond sputtering and others. Film materials will include oxides, nitrides or carbides of iron, chromium, titanium, molybdenum, zirconium and silicon and also metallic layers of chromium, aluminium, titanium in conjunction with wear resistant layers. Colour, corrosion resistance, formability and weldability will be studied.
