Eurasian Political Studies Network: Developing comparative studies of regime transformations in multicultural societies and state- nation-building process in post-soviet region

Cel

The main aim of the project is to coordinate West- and East-European researchers activities to build large scope comparative study of the transitional process in the NIS, in terms of regime transformation. Participants will explore institutional shifts, comparative policy process, values and identities transformation, and external political factors of regime transformation. The research’ geographic scope includes, for one or more variables, all the NIS (with Baltic states) excepting Moldova. Another important objective is to maintain and to develop the network for scholars’ mutual learning and for further cooperation. The coordination and cooperation is organized within the Eurasian Political Studies Network existing from 2002, and the project involves 11 research teams from research institutions and Universities, representing France, Check Republic, Lithuania and United Kingdom (INTAS members), Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Ukraine (NIS). All teams are multidisciplinary, including researchers in social sciences, politics, policy analysis, international relations, mass communication, law, ethnic and religion issues, and identity studies. Teams involved combine the experience of reputed senior researchers with the enthusiasm and new ideas of young generation representatives. The common work is organized through team meetings, thematic workshops, two joint sessions, wide web-exchanges. The main planned result is a series of publications on field related comparisons and of a common comparative study on transition process in the NIS. Results dissemination will be realized via publications, the network’ web site, and via conferences where all interested scientists are invited.
