Obiettivo The aim of this research is to develop procedures to control the inclusion size and volume fraction in steel to maximise the toughness of the heat affected zone. The work will involve the production of laboratory melts containing different types and quantities of stable oxide particles and the evaluation of the HAZ structure and properties of these steels using HAZ simulation techniques.
