Objective The "Researchers in Europe Initiative" and the launching event by the European Commission of the initiative in June 2005 under Luxemburg?s presidency of the European Union have been the occasion to bring together partners from various backgrounds (educatio n, higher education, research, promotion of scientific culture) to start a campaign in order to promote the researcher?s profession. In Luxembourg, the majority of public and private research institutes developed their research activities very recently, since the late 1980s. The media and the general public are not really aware of the importance of scientific contributions or researchers? contributions to both, society and economy. Indeed the lack of a scientific journalism, as it is practiced in other Eu ropean countries (existence of popular periodicals, television magazines ?) led to the opinion that research activities seem to be carried out only by big foreign research institutes and that scientific research only happens outside Luxembourg. Consequentl y, most of the young people in Luxembourg think that the profession of a researcher does not offer real perspectives for the future. It is not considered as a serious alternative in the choice of a professional career. Other phenomena still have to be ana lysed, like the downward tendency of inscriptions in physics, mathematics, engineering and natural sciences. The consortium of partners under the present call suggests a coordination and promotion campaign to improve the awareness of the researcher?s prof ession as a real career option, comprising : ·new activities in collaboration with the most important media in Luxembourg to promote the researcher?s profession ·many existing activities that could be better coordinated with an increased visibility to th e general public or to other target groups such as children or students ·a qualitative survey to analyse the perception of the researcher?s profession, particularly by pupils/scholars who are Keywords Promotion culture of scientific Programme(s) FP6-MOBILITY - Human resources and Mobility in the specific programme for research, technological development and demonstration "Structuring the European Research Area" under the Sixth Framework Programme 2002-2006 Topic(s) MOBILITY-2004-SSA - Researchers in Europe Initiative Call for proposal FP6-2004-MOBILITY-13 See other projects for this call Funding Scheme SSA - Specific Support Action Coordinator MUSÉE NATIONAL D'HISTOIRE NATURELLE' EU contribution No data Address Rue Münster 25 LUXEMBOURG Luxembourg See on map Links Website Opens in new window Total cost No data Participants (3) Sort alphabetically Sort by EU Contribution Expand all Collapse all FONDS NATIONAL DE LA RECHERCHE Luxembourg EU contribution No data Address RUE ANTOINE DE SAINT EXUPERY 1777 LUXEMBOURG See on map Links Website Opens in new window Total cost No data LUXINNOVATION GIE Luxembourg EU contribution No data Address Rue Alcide Gaspari 7 LUXEMBOURG See on map Links Website Opens in new window Total cost No data UNIVERSITÉ DU LUXEMBOURG Luxembourg EU contribution No data Address Avenue de la Faïncerie 162A LUXEMBOURG See on map Links Website Opens in new window Total cost No data
