Electronic maritime cultural content

Objectif

The user-centred eMarCon project implemented a platform allowing geographically distant European museums and their visitors to arrange and then experience common maritime exhibitions via the Internet. The user types are able to visit the presentation and interact. The incorporation of interactive historical games educates and stimulates the user experience.

The presentations took into account a visitor profile (age, skills, language, etc.) for explaining the artefacts. The resulting Distributed Exhibition supplies forums to discuss the artefacts and arrangements the museums have configured. The system guides the visitor through the multilingual exhibition along different sessions, protecting his privacy within the Internet and allowing access via PDA when visiting a real museum combining information about virtual and real artefacts. It allows the real museums participating in the exhibitions to receive payments for their service.
