Electronic multilingual tourism environment

Objective

The purpose of the project was to analyse/make suggestions for the theoretical and practical issues involved in the design, implementation and maintenance of multilingual e-commerce web services where the expertise of more than one group is needed to provide such services.

The aim was to come up with a process for designing, developing and maintaining multilingual web services and related digital content targeting multi-language user populations. The result of the project was to be a demo multilingual web service, targeting the Tourism sector, where both the theory and practice of the project findings were made available to the general public.

The process allows a content supplier to provide original content without being concerned with the production of its "localised" versions. The process ensures that the appropriate multilingual service agent is notified automatically of any content additions and/or updates in any language, in order to supply multilingual input corresponding to the original content that has just been added/updated.
