Objective
Through a specification framework built on identified user requirements, the EuroRoadS project will prepare the ground for a pan-European road data infrastructure. It will be a key in the opening up of public sector road information, for promoting public-private partnerships and for the establishment of important applications within the areas of in-car navigation, fleet management, intelligent transport systems, mobility management, traffic management, road maintenance, traffic safety, environmental and society planning. The project will lead to harmonised road data specification, data exchange mechanisms and interoperability specifications.
The usefulness of these achievements will be verified in the form of demonstrators and tests. EuroRoadS will also elaborate plans for implementation and exploitation of the project results.
The project team is composed of European road administrations, European mapping agencies, the European organisation for implementation of Intelligent Transport Systems and Services, and a private enterprise working with road data and related services.
