Detector Research and Development towards the International Linear Collider

Objective

This project aims at creating a coordinated European effort towards research and development for the next generation of large-scale particle detectors. New and advanced detector technologies are needed to fully exploit the potential of future accelerators like the International Linear Collider (ILC) which is being designed in an emerging worldwide collaboration.

The project will develop infrastructures to facilitate experimentation and to enable the analysis of data using shared equipment and common tools. It is based on the use of existing facilities and on plans to improve them as required. Thus the goal is to establish a common European infrastructure for the research on advanced detector concepts for the ILC and to foster collaboration between European partners and associated institutes.
