Setting up of an agricultural and food research network in the Western Balkan Countries

Objective

The overall objective of the project is to support the opening of the European Research Area by developing a sustainable network in agricultural and food research in the Western Balkan.

To achieve this objective, the consortium will provide:
1) Statistical data on the research establishments from WBC involved in agricultural and food research.
2) Four national mapping reports and one consolidated mapping report, identifying the main players in agricultural research.
3) A foresight study identifying agricultural and food research areas and policy support with potential for enhanced co-ordination between the Member States and the Western Balkan. A position paper on FP7 will be provided.

A sustainable, access free #Amp; on-line database integrated in a web portal will be developed. An expert panel will also be constituted to conduce the foresight study. Results will be discussed at the occasion of a high level international workshop. The project gathers 12 organisations including university departments, research institutes and ministries of research from Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Serbia Montenegro. Organisations from Bulgaria, France, Hungary and Greece with good knowledge of FP6, of mapping and foresight exercises and experience in the Western Balkan (WB) also participate to the project.
