Supporting the European effort on eSafety and sustaining the work of the eSafety Forum activities

Descrizione del progetto

eSafety Co-operative systems for road transport

Road safety is a concern for all citizens in Europe and finding solutions to save lives on the European road is of interest to all Europeans. eSafety is a joint industry-public sector initiative driven by the European Commission and co-chaired by ERTICO, ITS Europe and ACEA (Association of European Car Manufacturers), with the aim to promote the development, implementation, and use of Intelligent Integrated Safety Systems to enhance road safety throughout Europe. Sustainable solutions can only be created together with all stakeholders on a European level.
eSafety Support is a 36 month duration Specific Support Action that will strengthen the activities and results generated from the eSafety initiative through preparation of future actions, support to policy, and through dissemination of results to all stakeholders. This will be undertaken directly by establishing an ?eSafety Support Function? that will monitor and stimulate eSafety initiatives and activities. The support action will be an easily accessible and up-to-date resource for information on the priority eSafety topics and will launch support activities to strengthen the work of the eSafety Forum.
eSafety Support will build up a knowledge base and provide a synthetic overview and executive ?state-of-work? in key thematic areas covered by the eSafety initiative, for which the eSafety Support secretariat will be a key contact point. eSafety Support will use a range of tools to disseminate emerging results from the eSafety initiative. eSafety Support will organise major eSafety Forum events in close cooperation with the European Commission, ERTICO, ACEA, and other key organisations, companies and authorities involved in the eSafety Forum activities. eSafety Support will identify challenges and areas of common interest and provide policy-makers and industry decision-makers with knowledge and decision-aiding tools and thereby encourage coherent development of research and innovation policies in Europe.
