Ziel

The proposed project represents a first step of a collective effort to support innovation in the South East Region of Bulgaria that will lead to the successful integration of the Region into the European Research area.

The aim of this effort is to unite all the regional bodies that promote applied research, co-operation between research and industry, technology transfer, human technology skills and entrepreneurial capabilities for the renewal of products, production processes and effective competition o n global markets.

This interest for innovation and technology transfer is based on the importance of innovation to maintain employment, competitiveness, and improve the living standards of a region. SerBul project explores the way innovation processes will be promoted through companies, institutions and local governments on the regional level.

Public and private institutions as well as big enterprises, local authorities and local support systems of research, training and financing of new innovative activities have a key role to play in this field. SerBul project aims at creating the proper conditions for individual and group participation in creation of new ideas and projects; influencing the dynamics of innovation creation and distribution, particularly in the case of companies that carry out production and processing of processes using advanced technology.

Creating the right innovation climate is of great importance for small companies. To survive, they have to cooperate with other companies and institutions. A co-operation by means of networking or clustering allows for overcoming barriers and helps smaller companies to become more competitive.

The work during the development of the RIS will be focused on on-line transfer of know-how from the foreign partners to the South East Region of Bulgaria in terms of development its own RIS; use of tools and methodologies relevant to the specific needs of the Bulgarian region
