Objectif The first objective of the project is to create high-impact publications of the three working papers that the Researcher started to work on as a doctoral student at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. All three papers address the individual-level and organizational factors that facilitate executives' advancement to the top of corporate hierarchies. The process of working on subsequent revisions necessitates close cooperation between the Researcher's doctoral institution and the Researcher. The second objective is to expand this research to a European context and examine the predictors of executive career advancement on a sample of Spanish executives. Phase 1 of this project will look at five types of corporate career development practices and will link these practices to a much more comprehensive set of organizational characteristics (the organization's total income, EBITDA, personnel costs, industry affiliation, human resource management practices, etc.) than it was done previously. In Phase 2, the Researcher will collect biographical information on the executives who are at the helm of the organizations sampled in Phase 1.The third objective is to develop a 15-session elective course on executive career advancement based on the research outlined under Objectives 1 and 2, for international MBA students at the Host Institution. A similar course is not offered at most business schools and will require considerable intellectual input from the Researcher. Each academic year, this elective course will be offered twice. The preparation of the course will also include the production of a syllabus and teaching materials.
