Objetivo The NESTOR project contributes to cutting-edge security solutions within the area of multi-sensing and data fusion. The general objective of the NESTOR project is to research all critical topics for the future development of a novel, next generation network centric security system. The key issue here is to sense, connect, interpret and analyse all relevant sources of information at any time, and to take the consequent right decisions and actions. The scientific challenges are embedded in three research topics:- Secure infrastructure;- Advanced use of information;- Decision support. The NESTOR-project offers excellent opportunities for six university graduates (M.Sc. degree) to receive early stage training in the field of network centric security technology. The proposed research topics offer the fellows the opportunity to prepare for a PhD degree.Hosted at the Innovation Department of the Business Unit Combat Systems of Thales Nederland B.V. the fellows will be surrounded by the best resources available to do research in this area. Tight co-operation with the University of Twente (via the T-Xchange cell, in particular with the Centre for Telematics and Information Technology (CTIT), enhances the effects of the research training. The fellows will be stimulated to learn and to train, but also to contribute to scientific developments. The leading research position of Thales facilitates the fellows to become experts themselves, in their own scientific/technological discipline, with a profound focus on personal development and security technology. From these perspectives, Thales-NL clearly contributes to promoting research careers within the European Research Area and encourages young researchers to progress into long-term research careers.
