The European Union attempts to address humanitarian crises and violent conflicts in a comprehensive manner. Yet, the need for consistency, coherence and complementarity prevails. In order to fill this gap, the multi training -site seeks to train early stag e researchers, to learn from the experiences and produce and disseminate scholarly knowledge. It will enhance European research co-operation as well as the quality of research and training on the subject. It combines collaborative research project and a structured training program.
The research training focuses on three thematic areas: Theories and concepts of Humanitarian Assistance and Conflict Prevention; European Approaches to Humanitarian Intervention, Conflict Prevention and Peace-building; and Humanitarian Crises, Regional Conflicts, and Global Peace. The training program includes transnational training for graduate and post-graduate students and dissemination of research results. The multi-site will promote the transfer of knowledge and career development.
It brings together a broad, interdisciplinary and complementary critical mass of expertise in the field of humanitarian assistance and conflict prevention and resolution including European integration, humanitarian assistance, international relation s, foreign and security policy, sociology, anthropology, international law, peace and conflict research, migration, philosophy, history, law, development studies, gender studies, economics, management and communication.
