Obiettivo The effects of disorder and electron-electron interaction on the coherent electron transport in mesoscopic systems will be studied theoretically. Based on advanced electronic structure approaches for stationary states, a full many-body methods for calculation of the current response will be developed and tested on nano- and meso-conductors. In particular, the key testing systems will be the one-dimensional wire biased by two macroscopic contacts and/or the mesoscopic one-dimensional ring threaded by an exte rnal magnetic flux. A major goal and challenge of this project is to show quantitatively, how the electron-electron interaction mediated decoherence modifies the coherent one-dimensional transport in the regime of strong localization.
